Robin

From the Youngest Daughter :)

My woodworking brother built a robin nesting box for me to put in my garden. (Yay brothers!!) And just recently some robins moved in! I wonder how many young whippersnappers they'll have? Any guesses?

P.S. Those vines on the trellis? It's honeysuckle. Can't wait for it to turn green and to bloom!

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain is a great book if you want to teach yourself to draw well. After reading the chapter on profiles, we decided to do the assignment: draw a copy of this picture!

Mom's copy:
Mom: How come she looks a little snobby now? I think her nose is too big. No, it's her eyes. She's not at peace. But I like her hair.

Youngest Daughter: I don't like the way her nose came out. Too pointy or something. And her ear looks weird. Yuck. ;)

But it's close enough, right? I can get too picky about my drawing... (I still don't really like it though! Ack! :)

Floyd the Nnoyed

My friend and faithful commenter, Gianna, and I made up an animal called a Nnoyed. Wanna see him?

Here he is!

And those green stripes on his hooves? Yeah. Glow in the dark. *nods head* :)

I like the name of the animal for obvious reasons, (A Nnoyed ... annoyed...) but I also like it becaus it sounds like the word "Nerd" said with an old fashioned New Yoyke *ahem* New York accent. :)
P.S. Gianna, I hope you don't mind I named him Floyd. I thought it fit too well to pass up. :)

Dr. Seuss alive & growing

I couldn't pass up this Dr. Seuss looking plant! It's really called a Chenille Plant. The red tail is fuzzy and soft ... it is also known as a Red Hot Cat Tail.

I was down in the basement practicing making bowls. I wanted to use small pieces so I wouldn't use my nicest wood. I was just playing around and this is what came out!

I like the off-centered look.


The girls thought it looked like an egg cup (for leftover Easter eggs), and I think it looks really cool this way!

Purple in a Tulip

When you look closely at the center of this tulip, you can see purple! Pretty, no?

Chair Makeover

We visited my oldest brother and his wife this weekend. And just in case you're confused, no, he's not my woodworking brother. He's the other one, who is not included in our blog. Poor guy. :)

Anyway, my sil (sis in law) had this chair she wanted painted. Sooooo sil and I made a weekend project of it! We make an awesome team. Just sayin'.
